I just posted (under UK Newells / Bristol Tab) the results of my recent research on John Newall, merchant of Bristol, England who operated in Harbour Grace, Nfld. in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.   In this paper I speculate on a possible connection between this John Newall and John Noel of Brigus.

I have recently started adding some very preliminary material on Newells from outside “The Dock” (posted under the New World Tab). This includes some of my earlier research on James Newell of Halifax N.S.; an introduction to the Newells of Trinity and Bonavista, Newfoundland and a very brief introduction to the Noels of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland.  I am currently working on the first post for the UK and should have it ready in a week or so. This is totally new material that includes links to Newfoundland.

The basic core of the site is now online so I would like to take this opportunity to welcome  visitors and to  remind you that I will be adding new material so check back later for more info.

The core material now online includes: my paper on Richard Newall who visited Newfoundland in 1623; some of my early research on the Newells of “The Dock”, Newfoundland and a summary of my findings regarding DNA. In the near future I hope to add more material related to Richard Newall and start posting my research on different families of Newells (and related names) in the UK.
